Editor’s Words
This year is the 20th anniversary of the the Fourth World Conference on Women and adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Numerous actives in memory of the conference are happening or soon will be held on various scales-globally, regionally, nationally and locally, which will certainly be a great time to implement gender equality policies. Gender equality issues in a certain country are closely related to the country’s politics, economy, culture, etc. Therefore, it poses the questions like how to reflect on and evaluate these relations, and how to better implement gender equality policies regarding these relations.
Women”s Watch will present Argentina’s experiences on implementation of gender equality policies in our two consecutive newsletters in early 2015(first), revealing how the implementation is involved with its politics, economics, and culture. Both Argentina and China are developing countries with similar situations; hopefully Argentina’s experiences would be some reference for China’s development.
Moreover, this issue covers recent activities conducted by Women’s Watch China and Beijing Zhongze Women’s Legal Consulting Service Center and reprints news on women’s rights from both home and abroad for the reference of the readers.
